Cyber education, developed by the international NGO Digital Policy Institute – millennium 3000, is designed for all levels of the education system.
The mission of cyber education is to prepare students at all levels of the education system for life in the virtual world and to teach them how to prevent conflict situations that, through modern technological platforms (i.e. disinformation websites, social networks, artificial intelligence, etc.), are transmitted to the real environment and, in addition to causing security and social tensions in society, also threaten national security, the lives and health of citizens, human rights and freedoms, digital sovereignty and principles of the rule of law.
Cyber education and digital literacy play an increasingly important role in modern education. The above mission of cyber education, which focuses on preparing students for life in the virtual world and preventing conflict situations, is of utmost importance and relevance today.
Digital literacy. Students should be educated on digital issues, which includes the ability to recognize disinformation, critical thinking, especially in relation to the information they receive online, and responsible online behavior.
Cybersecurity. Cybersecurity and the protection of life and health and human rights and freedoms must be addressed in cyber education so that students are able to protect themselves and their online activities.
Digital moral order and ethical behaviour. Education covers the ethical aspects of online behavior in cyberspace, including respect for the human rights and freedoms of others.
Preventive strategies. Students must be encouraged to actively prevent conflict situations and the spread of hatred online, and be motivated to resolve conflict situations in a non-violent, peaceful manner.
Collaboration. Cyber education involves cooperation between teachers, parents and students to ensure digital safety and ethics are a priority in the educational process.
Cyber education is a key element for the overall protection of the state and its citizens, both in real and virtual environments. It is a systematic and multidisciplinary approach to awareness, education and skills development that enables individual users, institutions and society as a whole to respond adequately to cyber threats and challenges.
The goal of cyber education is not only to strengthen individual responsibility in virtual space, but also to promote society’s collective ability to defend against cyber attacks and maintain cybersecurity at the national level.
This form of education includes information on cyber risks, ethical aspects of digital behavior, prevention of cyber attacks and protection of personal data, with an emphasis on continuous adaptation to the dynamic environment of cyberspace. Cyber education thus provides key tools for building a more resilient, informed and secure digital society.
